The Training Band meets on a Monday evenings and is lead by Philip Storer, a member of the Gloucestershire Music team and an accomplished cornet player.
The Training Band is split into two groups: Complete beginners who meet at 5:30 and intermediates who meet at 6:15.
The Training Band welcomes players of any age and it has been the case that parents have taken up learning an instrument and enjoying the experience of learning to play, as a direct result of taking their child along to the Training Band.
For school age children it is an ideal way of supplementing school/home music lessons and it gives them the opportunity to play in groups.
Many of our senior band members have progressed through the Training Band and are now holding key positions in the main band.
We have adopted a framework for the Training Band which has
been approved by Gloucestershire Music and we are working very
closely with them.
We have recently sponsored music workshops in local schools, promoting brass amongst school children.
Training Band subscriptions are £15 per term including instrument hire (where available).
