Rockey Leads Ten To The Bar

Nailsworth Silver Band has created a ten piece band to carry out the smaller functions that do not require a full band.

The group has been named Ten To The Bar.

The Bands Musical Director Stephen Rockey has worked hard to prepare a selection of ten piece music that is varied and interesting to both players and listeners.

Most of the pieces have been arranged by Stephen Rockey and have been enthusiastically received by the players in the group.

Recently Ten To The Bar performed their first engagement when they were asked at short notice to play in the massed bands event in Abbey Park, Evesham.

Ten To The Bar performed their own programme and then joined with the other bands present to perform a massed bands programme.

The age range of the players is vast, the youngest being fifteen and the oldest being eighty, the group have separate rehearsals to the main band and consider themselves spoilt because they get to play more.

Nailsworth is a very active band with a very vibrant youthful core, fourteen of the members are under nineteen, with a further six mature youngsters who are retired.

Nailsworth Band also run a training band for beginners and intermediate players.

Ten To The Bar adds yet another layer to the Nailsworth Silver Band organisation which has gone from strength to strength over the last few years.
