Nailsworth Silver Band have accepted a prestigious invitation to perform at the Rotary International World Convention at Birmingham's NEC this Saturday.
Members are volunteering their time free of charge but the cost of transport for their 30 players and supporters was a major problem.
However Nailsworth Rotary Club solved the problem by donating £200, while Rover Coaches from Horsley came forward to provide a heavily subsidised coach.
Trevor Picken, a former Musical Director of the band and past president of Gloucester's Rotary Club will co-ordinate the trip.
At a brief presentation ceremony at their headquarters last Monday, president Fiona Hodges handed the cheque to band chairman Tim Robbins.
Almost 20,000 Rotarians from more than 100 countries are expected at the convention where Nailsworth Silver Band will give two performances to entertain the international visitors.
Their Musical Director, Steven Rockey said that this would probably be largest audience the band had entertained in their 90 year existence.
This weekend will be a busy one for the band as they will also play in Stratford Park in Stroud on Sunday at 2:30pm, which will give local people the chance to hear some of the music played at the Rotary Convention.
