NAILSWORTH Silver Band has donated 13 instruments to a trust set up in memory of a county musician who died earlier this year.
The band has given the Trefor Evans Trust six cornets, two euphoniums, two trombones, one flugel horn, and two tenor horns to be used by young musicians in Lithuania, the country visited by Trefor Evans just days before his untimely death.
Jo Millin, Trefor's partner, said: "We are really grateful to Nailsworth Band and their president Bill Bruton for making such a great donation to the Trust.
"Nailsworth was the first band I played for so it means a lot to me that they have supported me in my efforts to carry on Trefor's wishes to support the young musicians of Lithuania.
"The Trust has got off to a great start-and we really appreciate all of the instruments and money donated by everyone who has supported us so far.
"We are well on the way to achieving our aims but still need more Instruments and financial donations before we can make a significant difference to the lives of the young people Trefor pledged to help." .
The Trefor Evans Trust was set up in memory of Trefor Evans, aged 38, of Gloucester, who died in March from the effects of epilepsy.
Trefor was the solo horn player with Lydbrook Silver Band, which toured Latvia and Lithuania in March.
